REAL MADRID have been backed to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.

The forward was on the radar of Barcelona for the past two transfer windows but the Catalan giants failed to make a move.

Such was the extreme interest in January, the La Liga leaders were forced to release a statement claiming they would not bid for Griezmann.

However, they are expected make a move in the summer but now Real Madrid have been tipped to sign the sharp-shooter.

A number of Spanish journalists have indicated that Los Blancos will be in the market for a new striker at the end of the season.

That is because Karim Benzema has only three league goals to his name this season as Real struggle domestically.

Griezmann is reportedly seen as the ideal replacement and he already live in the Spanish capital which would make the transfer easy.

“Griezmann I love it. I’m sure he’d love the Bernabeu,”

And fellow journalist Roberto Morales said: “If there’s a team that needs Griezmann, it’s Real Madrid.”

While Jose Antonio Martin Otin commented: “Real Madrid is now looking for a piece that complements the goals of Cristiano [Ronaldo].”

If Barcelona and Real both want to land Griezmann then a huge bidding war could ensue in the summer.
