NEYMAR reportedly sent a message to former Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi after Paris St-Germain were paired against Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16.

Neymar left Barcelona for PSG for a world record £200m in the summer but remains close with Messi following their time together at the Nou Camp.

And after yesterday’s draw, Neymar is said to have sent a message to Messi about what will happen when the Champions League resumes in February.

That is according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, who claim Neymar told Messi that he is confident of beating Real Madrid and firing PSG to European glory.

The report adds that the 25-year-old expects to meet Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the final in Kiev over Barcelona.

PSG boss Unai Emery is also confident that his side can end talk of Real clinching a third European title on the bounce.

“I think it is a good draw. I believe we can compete with Real Madrid,” Emery told UEFA’s official website.

“To make something great in the UEFA Champions League, you need to beat the best teams. The last 16 is a good moment to play such teams.

“We will need to show our character, our tactical skills and our talent. Talent is very important.”
