WELLSPORTS NEWS:

The Chilean forward has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since his move from Premier League rivals Arsenal in January and was among United’s most disappointing performers against Sevilla on Tuesday night as they crashed out of he UEFA Champions League.

Sanchez started on the left hand side of a three-man attack with Marcus Rashford, who had starred in that position against Liverpool at the weekend, pushed out to the right and Romelu Lukaku operating as the central striker.

All three failed to shine against Sevilla and Scholes believes Mourinho must now sacrifice Sanchez to get his team firing again.

“Rashford was frightening on that left side on Saturday, but he moved him to bring Sanchez into what he thinks is his best position,” the former United midfielder said, speaking on BT Sport.

“[Sanchez] gave the ball away so often and his manager has to see that in the 10 games he has played, he has not been good.

“He needs to choose his best front three and be brave enough to leave one out. At the moment, Sanchez is the one to leave out.”

Scholes’ former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand also questioned Sanchez’s worth to the United team.

“Sanchez looks like a shadow of his former self,” Ferdinand said. “When he was at Arsenal he was a player everyone looked to for inspiration.

“Here he just looks like a stranger in this team. When you go to a [new] team you don’t lose all of your talent, it’s still there.
