Neymar’s splendid hat-trick ensured reigning champions Barcelona remain top of La Liga and beating mid-table Las Palmas.

Neymar went in with the opener after a pass from Luis Suarez. Repaying it seconds later for Suarez to score the second goal.

Las Palmas answered back and had hope when defender Pedro Bigas swept in Kevin-Prince Boateng’s low cross.

But Neymar thwarted all hopes for the home side after two more quick-fire goals for his first hat-trick in an away game for Barcelona.

Barca are level on points with Real Madrid, who Sevilla 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Catalans, have the superior head-to-head record, but Real Madrid still have one more match to be played compared to Barcelona.

Madrid will win their first La Liga title since 2012 if they win both of their remaining games.

Madrid will play their game in hand when they go to Celta Vigo on Wednesday, and have their final La Liga match to Malaga next weekend.

Barcelona will play their final game under departing manager Luis Enrique, will host Eibar at the Nou Camp next Sunday.
