Young Leeds United goalkeeper Will Huffer says he is now looking to reach the next level after ten-years of hard work at Elland Road saw him rewarded with a professional contract.

The 19-year-old has signed a one-year deal with Leeds with the club taking the option of another year and Huffer, who has come through the clubs academy, says the club have done so much for him to get him to this point in his career.

“I am so pleased, I`ve been working for this for the past ten years, all of the trips up and down the country with my family has paid off, but I still know there is a long way to go,” Huffer told the Leeds United official website.

“It is a really proud day for me and my family, I`m so thankful to all of the coaches, my family, friends and the players, here, I am really happy.

“Leeds United has done so much for me over these last ten years, they have always been there for me when I have needed them.

“Hopefully I can kick on now, I know how much work is required and I won`t be resting, I want to reach that next level now.”

Huffer is one of four professional keepers now at the club alongside Felix Wiedwald, Andy Lonergan and Bailey Peacock-Farrell and he says he is learning from his teammates.

“Bailey is two years ahead of me and I still look up to him and we have Andy Lonergan and Felix Wiedwald here, who are really good role models and I take little bits from all of them,” Huffer continued.

The youngster, who has represented England at youth level, was a regular in the under-18 side last season as well as making four appearances for the under-23 development squad.

This season he has been a regular in the under-23 side, including the recent 2-2 draw at Bolton Wanderers.
