BARCELONA only signed Philippe Coutinho because of the pressure put on them by Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

At least that’s what Spanish publication Don Balon say Ousmane Dembele thinks, with the Frenchman said to have spoken out about being made a scapegoat at the Nou Camp.

Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund last summer in the wake of Neymar’s world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain.

His career with the La Liga giants has been blighted by a series of injury problems though and his first-team chances have been threatened by Coutinho’s arrival from Liverpool.

Dembele came on as a second-half substitute against Getafe yesterday and Messi is said to have been unimpressed by his performance.

The latest reports from Spain suggest Messi is unwilling to be intimidated by his more senior team-mates though.

According to Don Balon, Dembele is not close to the likes of Messi, Suarez, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets.

And he’s supposedly spoken out about being a target of their comments when things aren’t going Barcelona’s way.

Dembele is also said to blame Messi and Suarez for piling pressure on Barca to sign Coutinho.

And he’s apparently aware that they’d rather have the Brazilian in the team alongside them than him.

Don Balon refer to the whole situation as an ‘internal mess’ that will have a ‘bad ending’.
